Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Children are curious by nature, in this area of development they get to learn about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials and living things. They learn about the features of their own immediate environment, animals and plants. They explore, observe and experiment in the environment.

  • Investigating whether objects sink or float at the water table.
  • Understanding how plants grow by planting grass seeds and caring for them until they sprout.
  • Learning basic shapes, like circles and squares, by going on a scavenger hunt in the classroom for objects that look like these shapes.
